We’ll walk you through ACA-compliant plans (both on the state marketplace and off-exchange), HSA-compatible high-deductible plans, catastrophic plans (if you qualify), plus stand-alone dental and vision options—so you can see costs, networks, and benefits side-by-side.
If you buy through Your Health Idaho (the state marketplace), you may qualify for a monthly tax credit that lowers your premium based on your household size and income. Tax credits are only available through the marketplace—not on off-exchange plans. Your Health Idaho
Idaho’s Open Enrollment typically runs October 15 – December 15 for coverage that begins the following January. In some years, the state has extended the deadline by a day—always check the current year’s dates. Idaho AAC Health Insurance Marketplace
You may still enroll if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP)—for example after a big life change like losing other coverage, moving, marriage, birth/adoption, or if employer coverage is unaffordable. Most SEPs must be used within 60 days of the event.
Yes. Idaho’s marketplace supports no-cost local help from certified agents/brokers (“Consumer Connectors”) who can answer questions and guide enrollment; carriers pay them, not you.
Have Social Security numbers (or document numbers for lawful residents), dates of birth, recent income documents (like pay stubs or last year’s tax return), and details about any current or employer-offered coverage. A simple federal checklist is available.
Plans selected during Open Enrollment generally start January 1. For SEPs, start dates depend on when you enroll and the qualifying event; we’ll confirm your exact effective date during your application.
On-exchange plans are purchased through Your Health Idaho and can include premium tax credits (if eligible). Off-exchange plans are bought directly from insurers—same ACA rules and core benefits, but no subsidies and sometimes different networks or plan designs.
Maybe. Network rules vary by carrier and plan. We’ll check your preferred doctors and hospitals against each plan’s network so you don’t accidentally pick out-of-network coverage.
Think of your deductible as the amount you pay before the plan starts sharing costs, copays as flat fees for visits or prescriptions, coinsurance as a percentage you pay after the deductible, and the out-of-pocket max as your cap for covered, in-network care each year.
They’re levels that reflect cost-sharing, not quality. Bronze has lower premiums and higher costs when you use care; Gold/Platinum flip that. Many subsidy-eligible households find Silver plans offer the best value because of enhanced cost-sharing if income qualifies.
You’ll use the individual market like everyone else. We’ll estimate your annual income carefully (important for subsidy accuracy), compare on-exchange vs. off-exchange options, and help with HSA-eligible plans if that fits your tax strategy.
If employer coverage for you or your dependents is deemed unaffordable under federal rules, your household may qualify to enroll through Your Health Idaho and access tax credits. There’s a state tool to check this.
Yes—Idaho offers stand-alone dental plans through the marketplace, and we can also explore vision options so you can bundle the right mix for your needs.
